Since 2014, 't Roegwold has been an artificially created nature reserve in the municipalities of Midden-Groningen and Appingedam in the area of the Hunze en Aa's water board in the low-lying area of Duurswold in the Dutch province of Groningen. The area is managed by Staatsbosbeheer.'t Roegwold has an area of more than 1710 hectares, of which 1100 hectares are new nature. The area lies between the Eemskanaal in the north, Siddeburen in the east, Kolham in the south and Woudbloem in the west and forms an elongated zone between the A7 motorway in the south and the Schildmeer in the north. The Schildmeer is enclosed on three sides. The area partly follows the course of the old river Fivel, which is partly still visible as the Scharmer Ae and Slochter Ae and partly excavated to form the Duurswold drainage canal. The village of Kolham and the hamlets of Woudbloem, Schaaphok and De Paauwen are located on the area.
