Description

Oud-Amelisweerd is a country estate and knight's court town near Bunnik in the Dutch province of Utrecht. Together with the coach house and the garden, it forms the complex Historische Buitenplaats Oud-Amelisweerd. Together with Nieuw-Amelisweerd it forms the estates Amelisweerd.In the 13th century knight Amelis was bequeathed by the provost of Oudmunster with a worth at Bunnik. In Latin he was called Amelis de Insula, which means Amelis from the Weerd. In 1227 he is mentioned among the ministeriales of Bishop Otto of Lippe of Utrecht.
