Landgoed Duin en Bosch

Landgoed Duin en Bosch is a historic estate in the municipality of Castricum. In a hundred years, it has changed from an asylum to an estate. The Estate has a rich history. In 1909, medical director Dr. J.W. Jacobie opened the doors of the psychiatric institution. The buildings were designed by architect F.W.M. Poggenbee. Due to changes in psychiatric care, Duin en Bosch received a new zoning plan in 2012, which made housing construction possible. The west of the site has retained the zoning plan 'care': on the estate, mental health institution Dijk en Duin offers housing to adults and elderly people with an addiction and/or psychological disability who need long-term and intensive care.

The east has a zoning plan called 'housing'. Various new residential areas have been realized, such as: Nieuw Koningsduin and Eikenhorst, but national monuments have also been redeveloped into homes, such as De Nieuwe Loet (formerly men's pavilions) and De Broederwoningen (formerly nurses' homes).

You will find many more national monuments such as the white church, the water tower and the old administration building. The white church is no longer in use as a church, but has a new purpose for living and office space. The water tower will be transformed into a bridal suite and the old administration building offers space to entrepreneurs and you will find restaurant De Oude Keuken. They allow people with a distance to the labour market to gain work experience.
