Sandenburg Castle is a Dutch castle in Langbroek (municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede) in the province of Utrecht. It belongs to the estate of the same name.
Sandenburg is located on the Langbroekerwetering. The castle is first mentioned in 1391: in that year it was bequeathed to Jan van Zijl. In 1792 the residential tower was bought by Gijsbert Carel Cornelis Jan baron van Lynden. Between 1861 and 1865, F.A.C count van Lynden van Sandenburg had it extended to the current castle by the Utrecht architect Samuel Adrianus van Lunteren . The castle is still privately inhabited by the family of Lynden van Sandenburg.
Behind the castle is an orangery, where special plants used to spend the winter. The orangery is rented out as a wedding and event location. [3]The former stable, the coach house and the top floor of the castle are now home to businesses.
The poet Gerrit Achterberg was born in sandenburg's coach house.
A part of the provincial road N229 between Wijk bij Duurstede and Werkhoven is named after the former owner of the castle: 'Graaf van Lynden van Sandenburgweg'.
