The Fort at Spijkerboor is a fort of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. It is located on the Westdijk of the Beemster, near Spijkerboor in the Dutch province of North Holland between Krommenie, Castricum, Alkmaar, and Purmerend, between the highways A7, A8, and A9. The fort was built between 1889 and 1913 for the defense of the Northern Front. Here, three waterways converge: the Noordhollandsch Canal and the ring channels of the Beemster and the Starnmeerpolder. It served to close off and defend the accesses formed by the Western Beemsterringvaart with the adjacent dikes and roads.
