Rioolrat was opened in 1996 to a design by the Dutch roller coaster builder Vekoma. It is a custom roller coaster of the type Junior Coaster. They were asked to design a roller coaster that fit into the existing building of the old Sewer Rat that had been built by Zierer.
As the name implies, the roller coaster is themed in a sewer and rat theme. The queue consists of two parts: a classic outdoor queue, but also a walk-through queue inside as a kind of pre-show on the theme of the roller coaster.
