Poonhaven is a hamlet in the municipality of Terneuzen in the Dutch province of Zeeland. The hamlet, located in the region of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, lies between Kwakkel and Kampen. Poonhaven mainly consists of farms and small detached dike houses along the Poonhaven and the Kampersedijk.
Poonhaven is named after a small agricultural harbor that functioned as a port for Zaamslag from 1821 to 1877. The harbor was located on the Hellegat, a sea arm that originally connected Hulst with the Western Scheldt. Due to the diking of the Van Lijndenpolder in 1877, the harbor disappeared permanently, as it had largely silted up by then. The harbor function was taken over by the small harbor of Griete.
