Town Hall Leidschendam

The town hall was built in 1940 according to the design of architect Alexander Kropholler in the style of the Delft School. The town hall was constructed as a residence for the municipal council of the new municipality that arose after the dissolution of the municipality of Veur and Stompwijk in 1938. In 1941, then-mayor Hendrik Banning opened the building.
The building has a symmetrical facade with a central main entrance elevated, accessible via a portal. Above the entrance is a balcony with an openwork parapet. Above the balcony door is a rectangular, white glazed plaque with the year 1940. In the middle is the coat of arms of Leidschendam between the smaller coats of arms of Veur and Stompwijk.
In 1961 and 1978, the town hall was expanded, always based on Kropholler's ideas. After the merger of Voorburg and Leidschendam into a municipality in 2002, the town hall remained in use for the new municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg.
Kropholler's building was fully renovated in 2014.
