Geleenbeek Line

With the Archeo Route Limburg, you discover the stories behind Limburg's history and archaeology. The main sites of this route are marked with an artwork in the shape of a spear.

The clear brook near Sittard nourishes countless plants and herbs along its banks and provides people with drinking and washing water. Thousands of years ago – around 5,000 BC – the Funnel Beaker culture prepared their food here, processed animal skins, and made arrowheads.
Two thousand years ago, the Romans performed their rituals by the water. No wonder that around the Geleenbeek there was a plethora of ancient artifacts from civilizations throughout the ages.
