Dinkelsteen XV
During the LAGA-2003, 13 sandstone sculptures were placed along the River Dinkel through an art project initiated by Anke Engels, so-called Dinkelstenen (Dinkelsteine). These stones are placed along a 13 kilometer route between Epe and Losser, always as close as possible to the river Dinkel. Later these were supplemented with 12 more Dinkel stones to Beuningen.
This is Dinkelsteen-XV made by Antoon Poorthuis and is called Transport.
This work of art shows the movement of stones (read: goods) in a simple way. Without means of transport, there can be no thriving economy. The importance of this is shown with this art object. The stone is rough and is laid on round oak poles. In the immediate vicinity of this work of art is the A1 motorway and the railway tracks of the train connection between the Netherlands and Germany.
