Fort Crèvecoeur was built to protect the northern side of the fortified town of Den Bosch, together with Fort Orthen. The fort has a very eventful history. It has been in Dutch, French, Spanish, and German hands. This created dangerous situations for the residents, who fled to the city center. All that conquering and reconquering left its marks on the fort. Today, the fort is not in tip-top shape. Nevertheless, it is worth taking a look and experiencing the historical atmosphere.
