The Schuur is a vibrant place for culture in the center of Haarlem. With a daily program covering theater, film, dance, talks, word art, DJs, and music specials in the café. The Schuur is within walking distance of the NS station and several parking garages.

In September 2021, the Toneelschuur and Filmschuur continued as the Schuur. The reason is simple: the Schuur is a home for much more than just theater and film. Here you can find dance, talks, word art, music, theater, and films from renowned directors, actors, and new talent. Additionally, we support talented creators in developing their own productions through our production house: Toneelschuur Producties. At the Schuur, artistic creators from various angles have the space to tell their stories in the form that suits them best. This often allows you to experience a different perspective on the world around us.

The Schuur is located on Lange Begijnestraat, in a building designed by Haarlem comic artist and designer Joost Swarte and Mecanoo Architects. In 1996, Joost Swarte was commissioned by the Schuur to create a sketch plan for a 'new house for the Schuur'. A defining feature of the design is the slanted glass facade, which separates the building from the city while simultaneously establishing a connection. The Schuur has two theater halls and two cinema rooms, and there is also a cozy theater café that is open every day of the week.
