The Drents-Friese Wold National Park is a large nature reserve on the border between Friesland and Drenthe. This route takes you straight through the nature reserve, including the famous "Kale Duinen van Appelscha". You also cycle through the various beautiful villages on the edge of this nature reserve, such as the well-known villages of Appelscha and Diever. But you also cycle through the picturesque Zorgvlied, the farming village of Doldersum or through Wapse with the Wapser Herberg. In all villages you will find terraces where you can charge yourself or your bicycle.
This route also takes you past three different lookout towers: the highest is the Bosberg Tower near Appelscha, in the middle of the Kale Duinen you will find the Aekingatoren and on the Doldersumse Heide also a beautiful wooden lookout tower that is not far from the route.
