If you look at this area from the air, you will see that something very curious is going on here. Elongated plots alternate with deep canals and water features. Clearly, this country could not be transformed into a cultural landscape overnight. The swampy peat bog had to be cleared of water with a lot of willpower and work. But once that was done, it did provide an ideal soil in which to grow plants and flowers. You will also be able to enjoy a lot of horticulture. The beauty of this landscape certainly does not come from the wild nature views, but rather from the battle between man and nature. Here you step through a chunk of Dutch mining history.
In late winter and early spring you can enjoy the witch hazel along this walk, which can be spotted in many places here.
