Hiking in Nederheide and Stippelberg

Starting point of the hike at the parking lot at the Natuurpoort Nederheide, Kaak 11, Milheeze.

The circular hike goes through the approximately 1000-hectare forest area De Stippelberg. The first part runs along beautiful winding forest paths, through open woods, and sometimes through tall grass (phragmites). Here you can see the development of the former production forest into a diverse natural forest. With more deciduous trees, open forest areas, watering spots for birds and animals, as well as larger clearings and patches of heath here and there.

Later, the path leads along forest paths at the edge of the forest, offering a beautiful view over meadows. The route then passes over a large sand dune. Afterwards, it continues along fields and through forest paths to the Bakelse Plassen.
This very large sand extraction site is still in operation, but a large part of the water areas and surroundings has already been designated as a nature reserve. From the high embankment, there is a magnificent view of the lakes. Further developments for recreational purposes are yet to come.

The route leads back to the starting point via forest paths. There are dining facilities at the Natuurpoort.

Of course, there are many birds and animals to observe during the hike.
The silence in this nature reserve is a wonderful experience.

All in all, it is a beautiful route through nature.
