Klein Hartje van Brabant, Drunense Duinen and Hengstven

we were enthusiastic about this process.

Anyone who leaves a bicycle or car at restaurant "De Rustende Jager" and walks this special walk with sturdy footwear will be struck by the great contradictions that exist in this area.
Everyone will be familiar with the fact that the Loonse en Drunense Duinen form an immense drifting sand area, but that you also have to walk on a boardwalk at a stone's throw away (to speak in the terms of the (Resting) Hunter) to keep your feet dry is probably less known.
You can experience it for yourself when you enter the open and humid "Hengstven" terrain after the first part of the walk through hilly terrain with sandy paths and beautiful vistas. This name refers to the entire former agricultural area that has been returned to nature by "Natuurmonumenten" for several years, the real fen that you find there is called "Boompjesven".
Between junctions 9, 8 and 86 you will discover the effect of excavating the nutrient-rich top layer and raising the groundwater level on the return of disappeared plants, butterflies and other insects.
