North Frisian Forests / Veenklooster-Buitenpost

This day trip begins and ends at Fogelsanghstate, a historic estate from the 17th century in Veenklooster. You will hike along a rubber boot path through Bootsma's Poel and then along the Simke Kloostermanweg. You will reach the Zwagermieden area, an important bird area. After Buitenpost, you will pass through the Modderberg, don’t let that name scare you. You then continue along the Tsjerkepaad towards the 12th-century church of Kollumerzwaag, a gem! Walking along the Tsjerkepaad, you will feel like you have stepped back in time. A beautiful footpath beside the Swaeger Feart takes you out of Kollumerzwaag. After the village of de Triemen, you head back towards Fogelsanghstate. Afterwards, you can also walk through the beautiful estate, the Veenkloosterbos in English landscape style. Attention! During the breeding season (March 15th to June 15th inclusive), the estate is not accessible.
