Part of the Meuse Cycle Route.
Welcome to Maas country. This stage allows you to cycle through the northern part of the Maas Valley. You will pass both cultural history attractions and small, intimate villages. The town of Maaseik is the cultural pearl along this route. This town is closely associated with the painters Jan en Hubert Van Eyck. Their statue proudly overlooks the convivial market square. Along the way, you can enjoy some of the regional specialities, such as the excellent Limburg wines , in the various cycling cafés. Want to cross the border? Take one of the ferries to cross the Maas to the Dutch bank quite easily.
