In this quiet border region you can walk endlessly through old forests, along heathland and fens, fields, meadows and cultural-historical farms. The beautiful tree-lined avenues, park forests, tea domes and country houses give the landscape a stately tint.
Wallsteijn was built around 1800 by Frederik van de Wall, rear admiral in Zundert. The country house with immediate surroundings is still privately owned. The Zondreef runs past the mansion, which leads to a sight dome in the south of the estate. Due to the elevated location of the dome, you have a great view over the countryside. From the mansion, the Spiegeldreef leads to a rectangular pond.

As with several estates in this area, Wallsteyn was also created after the excavation of the raised bog. The very first house on the estate was built in 1797 by order of Frederik van de Wall, to which the name Wallsteyn also refers. The hunting dome was built around 1800, originally intended as a resting point for hunting groups. The estate is owned by Natuurmonumenten, but the country house and the adjacent garden are privately owned and not accessible. The Wallsteyn estate is known for its nightingales. The song of these visually inconspicuous birds can be admired from mid-April to August.
