La Trappe is a Dutch Trappist beer. It is brewed by brewery De Koningshoeven of the abbey "Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven" in Berkel-Enschot near Tilburg in North Brabant where this route starts. The brewery used to be called De Schaapskooi. The name La Trappe comes from the French monastery "La Trappe", the cradle of the Trappist order.

In a sheepfold that was converted into a temporary monastery, a Holy Mass was celebrated for the first time on March 5, 1881. This date is seen as the foundation date of the abbey.
