City tour Frankfurt (Oder) - Słubice: Boundlessly beautiful

The guided city tour leads over the bustling city bridge to the eastern riverside into the Polish town of Słubice. Starting point for the tour is the German-Polish Tourist Information Office. Right at the marketplace you will find St. Marys Church, which features colorful medieval stained glass windows on its three impressive twelve-meter-high choir windows.Along the Oder River, you will cross the 250-meter-long bridge connecting the two cities into a twin city of Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice. The bridge serves as a symbol of overcoming borders in Europe and is illuminated during the night hours.The Collegium Polonicum is not only a joint teaching and research institution of the European University, but also offers a beautiful view of the Oder from its rooftop terrace.Not far away is the cultural center Smok, representing the largest cultural center of Słubice and serving as an exhibition and event venue. Here you can explore the OKNO gallery and make a quick stop at the on-site restaurant.After passing the prominent Parish Church of the Holy Virgin Mary, you will reach the Orthodox Church. The influences of the Russian Orthodox religion are clearly visible in this building, with the churchs typical onion dome being particularly striking.Various green spaces invite you to linger. The Plac Bohaterów features a barrier-free play and recreation area with modern seating and beautiful colorful fountains. At Plac Wolności, a life-size statue of Käthchen von Heilbronn commemorates the partnership between Heilbronn and Słubice. The Plac Przyjaźni also offers a delightful spot for a break with its playful fountains. The return journey takes you back over the city bridge to Frankfurt (Oder), passing by the Viadrina Museum where artworks from the Brandenburg State Museum can be viewed.
