Cabanas de Tavira

Low key touristic town in spring with a beautiful boardwalk along the water. Can imagine it gets rather busy in summer. Plenty of good restaurants in the centre that cater for all preferences. Lots of meat and fish where you cannot go wrong on the grilled salmon or tuna. Other specific Portuguese fish species require advance filletting skills though.
Easy access to the pristine beaches on the seafront by watertaxi's that only cost 1,5 Euro back and forth. Nice walks starting from Cabanas, one on the left that goes out to Cacela Velha and one to the right towards Tavira. Not that nice a walk as the former one, but it still is a good gateway to Tavira if you don't have a car at hand in Cabanas. Both walks are also listed under Route you.
A centrally located Spar-grocery shop and a few souvenir shops. All in all, very small scale, which makes this place so attractive. Some holiday house pavillions on the outskirts and a golf course nearby. 40 minutes away from the airport of Faro.
