Capela de Nossa Senhora dois Meninos is located on the edge of the old town , in the Bridge district, on the banks of the Balsemão River.
Senhora da cadeira is also known as the Chapel of Senhora do Amparo . It was built by order of Bishop Manuel de Noronha in the 16th century due to the devotion of the people to this virgin, to whom miracles were attributed because she saved several drowning boys from falling into the river .
The facade features the bishop's coat of arms. As the name suggests, the chapel houses a 16th-century statue of Our Lady of the Children , a virgin sitting with her child on her lap. It also contains 25 motif paintings depicting the life of the Virgin Mary, on the roof of the choir, and tile panels from the 17th and 18th centuries.
