In 1741, construction began on the rococo portal of the chapel, next to the old Dominican church. It was not until 1800 that the chapel front was completed.
The main portal of this Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical chapel has excellent carved stonework with the shield of the Order of Saint Dominic . The whole is crowned by a carved and framed niche, which houses the statue of Saint Catherine of Siena on a pedestal.
This building was part of the Santo Domingo Convent and is located next to the Church of San Domingo. It has two Baroque floors from the 18th century. It currently houses a retirement home . The documents from the ecclesiastical archives of the Third Order of San Francisco that were in the building have been transferred to the Alfredo Pimienta Municipal Archives.
