Jardim Dr. Adelino Sampaio - Ponte de Lima

A garden with beds of annual plants that includes the Town Hall, the Pillory and the Torreada house of Barbosa Aranha.

The evonyms (Evonymus fortunei) form the higher hedges and decorate the larger beds, which are separated by boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) and enriched with annual plants.

Visitors should take note of the sundial integrated into this garden, the Monument to the Poet António Feijó and the Fonte da Vila – remember that if you drink this water, you will never leave the Ponte de Lima (or so the tradition goes).

At the top, parallel to Avenida António Feijó, next to the bandstand, the walkway is lined with camellias (Camellia japonica). On the lawns are two fire trees (Metrosideros), rose bushes (Rosa), azaleas and rhododendrons (Rhododendron).

The wall in front of the Town Hall is lined with ferns (Nephrolepis tuberosa) and climbing ficus (Ficus pumila) and maidenhair tree (Parthenocissus tricuspidata). Next to the driveway to the Casa da Porta de Braga we find gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides), rosemary (Lavandula stoechas), rosemary (Rosmarinus officilalis 'Prostratus'), thyme (Thymus), curry herb (Helychrisum italicum) and northern rosemary (Diosma ericoides).
