This statue of Saint Francis with a crucifix in his hand stands for the Church and monastery named after him.

Francis Xavier is depicted in a black cassock, a white half-length surplice with a stole over it; often a cross in his hand in front of him (symbol of proclamation of faith to non-Christians). He was born in the Basque Country.
