The Chapel of the Resurrection, square and slender, was built between 1740 and 1741 , at the same time as the chapels of the Last Supper and the Garden.
In 1748 a window was added for better lighting. The chapel consists of a tomb in the form of a cave , on which are depicted six Jewish soldiers and an image of the Risen Jesus on the tomb, by João Gambino, who lived in the first half of the 18th century. The image is complete and the current statue dates from the 19th century.
Outside the chapel, at the top of the entrance, was a note: <<SURREXIT ENIM SICUT DIXIT», translated as: "risen, as he had said".
The interior, lit by a window that lets in the rising sun, boasts the following information: "Jesus was buried on the afternoon of Good Friday and the tomb was sealed and guarded by a group of soldiers. On Easter Sunday morning, this chapel represents the most sublime of the Christian faith - the resurrection of the Lord. Here is the tomb in the form of a cave, with a small entrance such as the Jews used; other soldiers, sleepless, others amazed by the indignation of the resurrection and the image of the risen Son Jesus, surrounded by light and slightly higher than the half-open tomb."
