Slussen is originally the name of a large lock between the districts of Gamla Stan and Södermalm in Stockholm. It is also the transition between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Just south of Slussen is the Dutch embassy.
Nowadays, it is often also referred to as the busy traffic junction. The junction has a bad reputation among Stockholmers, and there are also indications that the structure of the complex is deteriorating. For this reason, there are plans to completely renovate Slussen.
