Description

Sra Phleng is an artificial body of water and a common element of the Khmer architectural style. The large pond is located to the east of Prasat Hin Phimai. The pond is constructed in a rectangular plan by excavation and embanked. It was probably a reservoir for irrigation built following religious beliefs. Historians are still divided on the meaning and functions of these reservoirs. The pond is located outside the city wall of Phimai to the East on the way to Sai Ngam. Sra Phleng is the largest water reservoir of Prasat Hin Phimai.
