Claude Shannon, the founder of information theory, studied and worked at MIT, where he wrote his groundbreaking master's thesis on the application of Boolean algebra to circuits—a work that laid the foundation for digital electronics. He later returned as a professor (1956-1978) and inspired generations of engineers and scientists through his lectures, research, and presence on campus, where a statue of him stands.
