The monument was designed by Salvatore Valenti and erected in 1883 . There is a metal star on top of the obelisk. The names of the victims are engraved at the bottom.
The Obelisk for the 13 victims of April 14, 1860 (Obelisco Alle Tredici Vittime Del 14 Aprile 1860) is a monument in honor of the thirteen prisoners who were executed without trial for plotting an uprising (the Gancia uprising) against the Bourbon monarchy to rule.
