La República Socialista Popular de Albania fue un Estado socialista existente entre 1946 y 1992, año en el que se celebraron las primeras elecciones parlamentarias en el país. Entre 1946 y 1976, el nombre oficial del país fue República Popular de Albania .
Tras el fin de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y el final de la ocupación alemana, Albania pasó a ser gobernada por un régimen controlado por los partisanos locales, dirigidos por Enver Hoxha y Koçi Xoxe, veteranos de las Brigadas Internacionales en España, que asumieron el control del país tras la victoria final sobre las tropas de la Wehrmacht en octubre de 1944, que se dirigieron al noroeste presionadas por el avance soviético en los Balcanes.
