El Arsenal del Estado en Graz fue construido entre 1642 y 1647 y fue en su momento el depósito central de armas de Estiria. Las armas y accesorios almacenados en él sirvieron para equipar a la milicia del Estado de Estiria y para abastecer la frontera militar establecida en el siglo XVI para defenderse del Imperio Otomano en lo que hoy son Croacia y Hungría. Con sus 32,000 exposiciones de todo tipo, el Arsenal del Estado es la mayor armería del mundo, que además se ha conservado en gran medida en su estado original. Hoy en día, el edificio es parte del Museo Universalmuseum Joanneum y atrae anualmente a miles de turistas y amantes de las armas históricas de todo el mundo.
