El * Coticule es una formación rocosa que solo se encuentra en esta región del mundo. Esta roca, con venas muy delgadas, de entre 2 y 4 cm de grosor, compactada en el pizarra púrpura, está compuesta principalmente por granos de granate muy finos, unidos por una especie de cemento arcilloso. El color amarillo pálido es típico del mineral. La piedra de afilar de la región de Vielsalm era tan conocida que se exportaba a todos los países del mundo.
