Musée du Coticule

There you will find: a room dedicated to regional geology, a room illustrating the economic, historical and social aspects of the exploitation of the Schmeersslijpsteen * Coticule in our region; the restored workshop.
The * Coticule is a rock formation, which is found nowhere in the world, except here the region. This rock with very thin veins, between 2 and 4 cm thick, caked in the purple Phyllad, consists mainly of very fine garnet grains, held together by a kind of clayey cement. The pale yellow color is typical of the mineral. The whetstone from the region of Vielsalm was so well known that it was exported to all countries of the world.
