Bajo la influencia del presidente de la Fabrica de la Iglesia, Victor Dufays, profesor de arquitectura civil en la universidad de Lovaina, los arquitectos Léon Guiannotte y André Watteyne comenzaron la construcción de la Iglesia de San Agustín en 1928.
La iglesia se construyó en el Hoogte-Honderdplein en Vorst y fue consagrada en 1936.
Las ocho calles del barrio conducen todas a la iglesia.
La iglesia está hecha de hormigón armado y es un ejemplo característico del renacimiento de la arquitectura religiosa del período de entreguerras.
