Melkwezer es una entidad de Linter. Melkwezer fue un municipio independiente hasta la reorganización municipal de 1971. Wezer, ahora Melkwezer, es un nombre de agua prehistórico. Las formas más antiguas son Wiser y apud Wesere. Los archiveros a veces confunden documentos sobre Wezeren, una entidad de Landen, con los de Melkwezer. Melkwezer también se llamaba en 1645 Wezeren brabant frente a Walswezeren Luyxs.
