Okegem es una aldea en la provincia flamenca de Flandes Oriental y una submunicipalidad de Ninove. Tiene una superficie de 2,77 km² y se encuentra en la región de Dender en la orilla izquierda del Dender, que forma la frontera con la provincia de Brabante Flamenco. La primera mención del nombre Ockinghem data del año 1096 y aparece en un documento del monasterio de San Adrián de Geraardsbergen. El nombre es de origen franco. La terminación -gem o heim se refiere a una granja o lugar de residencia. Por lo tanto, el nombre tiene el significado de "lugar de residencia de Oko u Oking". La asociación histórica de Okegem ha estado publicando sobre la historia de Okegem desde 1975.
