¿Sabías que Leeuw era un área excepcional en el siglo IV? Esta era una zona sajona con leyes sajonesas en contraste con la dominación de los francos alrededor. Los sajones estaban más al norte, en los Países Bajos y en la Baja Alemania del Norte. La gran mayoría de los sajones se quedó en la actual Alemania y ofreció resistencia al Imperio Franco en expansión. La diferencia más notable entre el derecho sajón y el franco era el derecho de herencia, donde no el hijo mayor, sino el hijo menor heredaba la herencia paterna entre los sajones.
