Cuesmes es una aldea en la provincia belga de Hainaut, y una parte del municipio de la ciudad valona de Mons. Cuesmes fue un municipio independiente hasta la reorganización municipal de 1971. Museo: Casa de Vincent van Gogh Rue du Pavillon 3 Van Gogh vivió algunos años en Bélgica, entre otros lugares en la Borinage. Allí vivió entre los mineros y predicó para ellos. A partir de 1878 residió sucesivamente en Pâturages, Wasmes y Cuesmes, donde permaneció hasta 1880. Estuvo de visita en la casa de un minero, que hoy en día todavía se puede visitar. Un importante giro en su vida tuvo lugar en la Borinage, cuando comenzó a pintar.
