Uno de los eventos más destacados en la música pop belga es el Festival Actuel en Amougies en octubre de 1969. Este festival de cinco días se conoce a menudo como el "Woodstock europeo" y reunió por primera vez jazz y rock de una manera única. Estrellas mundiales como Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Yes, Ten Years After y Captain Beefheart actuaron ante unas 100,000 personas en el festival. La ubicación fue excepcional: en un prado cerca de este pueblo valón de Amougies, ya que el festival fue prohibido en Francia.
