Este lugar tomó forma en los años 60, cuando el paisaje original de los pantanos tuvo que dar paso a un estanque de 40 ha con una isla deshabitada, debido a la construcción de la N60. La leyenda dice que durante los trabajos, un camión se atascó... y que siempre está atascado en el fondo del estanque.
Aparte de las actividades recreativas que se han desarrollado aquí desde entonces, también se ha creado un rico biotopo natural. Especialmente en invierno, hay una gran población de aves en el estanque. Este lugar ya fue visitado por cazadores-recolectores hace más de 10,000 años. Los primeros agricultores de nuestra región solían pastorear su ganado aquí.
Y si comienzas a sentirte un poco débil, Den Dronk puede devolverte a tus pies. Esta taberna es parte de The Outsider, una organización que organiza actividades al aire libre para grupos, escuelas y asociaciones.
