Esta área natural se encuentra entre las dunas. Se trata de un cráter de duna en el que hay un estanque de duna. Este cuerpo de agua alberga una fauna y flora únicas. Aquí crece el cardo marítimo azul, la rara paja de cal y la aún más rara espárrago tumbado. Alrededor del denominado 'Estanque de Salamandras', donde se encuentran salamandras y ranas, también hay un área de cría ideal para pequeñas aves cantoras. Además, aquí se pueden encontrar, entre otras, la mariposa de la brecina y el azul pardo, dos especies de mariposas amenazadas que Natuurpunt intenta salvar con mucho cuidado de la extinción. Por lo tanto, se pide que al visitar esta reserva se permanezca en los senderos pavimentados que cruzan el área.
