El castillo de agua se alza majestuoso, severo y exuberante en un antiguo meandro del Lys y está rodeado por un hermoso parque de 45 hectáreas. A menudo se describe Ooidonk como uno de los castillos más bellos de este país y frecuentemente como una joya de la arquitectura flamenco-española del siglo XVI. La vista exterior del castillo, con sus numerosas torretas, frontones y chimeneas, evoca la imagen de los castillos del Loira como el de Chambord. El interior permite al visitante conocer piezas de muebles raras, objetos históricos, alfombras y colecciones únicas. Los sucesivos propietarios, incluido el actual conde Juan t'Kint de Roodenbeke, siempre han intentado conservar la vista campestre alrededor de la propiedad.
