Cerca del Mercado de Verduras se encuentra un busto de Fonne. Alfons de Pagie (1953-1998), alias 'el Fonne' o 'el Alcalde Nocturno de Lokeren', recibió una escultura en la plaza donde tenía su hogar, donde regentaba un café y donde en agosto se celebran anualmente las fiestas de Fonne. Willy Linthout lo inmortalizó en la 133ª tira de Urbanus 'Salchichas de Caballo de Lokeren'.
