Los datos relacionados con la fundación de la parroquia y la historia de construcción más temprana de la iglesia no están disponibles. Se cree que la actual iglesia de salón gótica orientada al este data del siglo XIV y la primera mitad del siglo XV. Probablemente se trata de una antigua iglesia de cruz adaptada y extensa, de la cual se preservó la torre de la cruz. El año 1690 en un arco de la bóveda de la nave posiblemente se refiere a trabajos de alteración adicionales o reparaciones en el edificio de la iglesia, tras daños previos debido a incendios y/o saqueos. También se habrían realizado cambios en la torre, pero faltan detalles históricos de la construcción.
