A la derecha vemos aquí clásicas dunas altas y erosionadas. Eso es un resto de una duna de arena alta y desnuda, formada en el siglo XIX y XX. A la izquierda notamos un área plana: el remanente de una antigua playa por donde pasaba un antiguo canal lateral del Ijser, el Vloedgat. Desde el siglo XIII-XIV, este canal fue separado del mar y, presumiblemente, esta llanura ha sido siempre un terreno húmedo y pantanoso durante los últimos 700 años. En estos singulares pastizales sobreviven especies protegidas a nivel europeo como el pantano arrastrado y el caracol de cesto. El pastoreo con Koniks, que son pequeños caballos polacos, debe asegurar la conservación de estos únicos pastizales.
