Silvio Brabo es un mítico soldado Romano de quien se dice que mató a un gigante y da nombre a Brabante.
También se dice que el nombre de la ciudad de Amberes , se deriva de la leyenda de Silvio Brabo. Brabo mató al gigante llamado Druon Antigoon, quien cobraba un peaje por cruzar el puente sobre el río Escalda. Cuando los viajeros no querían pagar, el gigante les cortaba una mano y la echaba al río. Por ello, Brabo le cortó la mano y la arrojó al río.
