La Abadía de Dendermonde está dedicada a los santos Pedro y Pablo. Es una abadía benedictina, ubicada en el centro de Dendermonde. La comunidad consiste hoy en día en ocho monjes. Es la única abadía en la diócesis de Gante. La abadía debe su origen al dendermondense Dom Veremundus D'Haens, uno de los últimos monjes supervivientes de la abadía de Affligem en Brabante, que fue disuelta durante la Revolución Francesa en 1796. Compró el antiguo monasterio de los Capuchinos en Dendermonde en 1837 del consejo de asistencia pública y se estableció allí con su primer novicio.
