El Pequeño Seminario, uno de los lugares de aprendizaje más antiguos de Bélgica, abrió sus puertas en este lugar en 1806. Durante la guerra, sus edificios fueron utilizados como un hospital de campaña alemán.
El Pequeño Seminario adquiere una función diferente
No mucho después del inicio previsto del año escolar, los edificios fueron ocupados como alojamiento temporal para soldados. Inicialmente, esto fue para soldados aliados, pero pronto los edificios escolares se convirtieron en un hospital de campaña alemán.
La guerra dificulta la educación
El Pequeño Seminario no fue el único lugar utilizado por los ocupantes alemanes. Todas las abadías y conventos de Roeselare fueron requisados, al igual que el hospital. Las numerosas otras escuelas de la ciudad también fueron requisadas.
